Interest tester :)
This is to see if anyone has any genuine interest and what the hell am gonna punt it as an mx5 alternative!
So the ad is for a 1989 Mercedes Benz W126 300SE (its rear wheel drive so a possible mx5 alternative?) my absolute pride and joy, metallic black with full grey leather in beautiful condition, only 2 previous owners from new a doctor and a "miss" both kept her for 10 years a piece, this was a 40 grand car in its day! The last proper Mercedes Benz. Only showing 104000 miles but regrettably I do not have any service history to back this up but I do have a few old MOT`s, I`m sure once anyone who is interested see`s her you will agree the milage cant be out, In really amazing condition for a 20 year old car, everything except the OSR window works and that just need a new runner clip to fix, fantastic to drive, it`s an old car but I took a guy out in it the other day who runs a new shape mondeo and he could not believe the way it drives! This is probably a regretable sale because I`ve wanted one of these for so long but my jaguar or hearse plans have reared there ugly head again and I cant fight nature! I will put a fresh MOT on it for any prospective buyer and change the oil and filter (already had plugs and a fuel filter), the engine runs brilliant and the box is effortless and smooth, the auto locking diff works 100% (will hold itself still on any hill in drive without touching any controls or brakes) there is a slight whine in reverse but I think this came as standard, the offside headlamp wiper doesnt work but thats just being picky, the bad bits: the chrome on the front bumper is absolutely knackered (currently patched up with silver tape) I am currently trying to secure a new front bumper but this if it happens will have to be reflected in the price, the rear bumper looks well but the chrome is on the turn (I`m being brutally honest here most people would say it`s still good for a 20 year old car) and thats about it really, veiwing more than welcome, it is a very large car (wont fit in normal car parking spaces) so please bear this in mind but it does qualify for classic insurance being a thirty year old design, Its not good on fuel, I average 19 to the gallon driving it gentle, this does increase to about 22 on a run, it is surprisingly fast especially in sport mode! Has around 188 BHP and enough torque to move your house but above all the you cannot surpass the driving experience of this car, incredibly gracefull old girl who still has enough power to surprise with modern traffic.
I`ve put her up here first because I`d much rather sell her to someone who will appreciate what they are getting than put her to the raveges of ebay however I have not a clue what to ask price wise, check em out yourself, they are going anywhere between 500 quid for a non runner and 7000 quid for a minter, I`m looking for summit in the high 1000 to 2000 mark, this is definately an appreciating classic so let me know if anyone is interested or if anyone you know is interested before I bite the bullet and put her on ebay
Thanks for looking,
John.

Yeah a know that feeling lol, everyone took the weewee when a first bought it but once they been in it they cant believe the way it drives. Have to admit even I had a wtf you bought that for moment when I first tried to get out of my street, zero visibility on a heavy incline with a bonnet longer than some small cars makes for a strangely entertaining journey! It`s got that summit else factor about it tho that still keeps me smiling
