New Stereo
After finding the address and phone number for source sounds in Chappletown Sheffield on SY5s website I gave them a call and later went through to see if they could fix my Bose sound system. Unfortunately the band expander which I fitted is not making the radio do what it should nor did a new one. However all was not lost a complete new Kenwood CD radio with MP3 function and MP3 capability set me back just £89.00 + 4 new speakers as the drivers side door speaker is completely cream crackered. £210.00 all in and fitted.
They were very polite and helpful I would recommend them if you have a sound or alarm fault.
I'll be getting them fitted friday 28/03/08 that's unless you know of anyone cheaper.

Nice one mate!! Always good to hear when someone gets good service.
With regard to the install, how much of the £210.00 is for the fitting.
My only suggestion is that you could get it done for the price of a few cups of tea and a bacon sarnie (for the workers) if we sorted it out at a tech day.

Just £60.00 to fit the speakers.

I don't think the radio can be made to work properly using the normal fix i.e. a band axpander. That's unless you know different.

Do you know what they are intending to do to remedy the problem?

Yeah, thats what I was suggesting we do on the tech day. Stereos are easy enough to fit (after you've got the ball vents out, which took me about an hour!!)

I'm confused why do you need to take out the ball vents to fit a stereo.????

To get the dash centre console off. The screws that hold it in place are located behind the ball vents.
Just remembered that you have a MK2 so this might not be applicable.

band expanders are only for use with the original jap stereo's as they're programmed to use a different set of frequencies...
using a band expander with a uk supplier radio will completely throw the frequencies, probably to another range that the uk stereo wont recieve.
Still got the Bose stuff?

Damo don't let the young whipper snapper take the wee wee like that
Especially when you'd posted up a very good bit of technical advice, that sounded very impressive mate
