Difficult one that, i guess it depends on what you want ? bright n breezy, mean n moody or just cool ?
I love black it looks cool and mean, but at the opposite end white looks awesome too !! the Merlot(deep burgundy) colour looks smart and sophisticated/classy i guess, but others say its for OC(old) people.
I have a Mariner Blue which is the most common/popular colour, i originally wanted to do blue/white to give it a sort of light sporty/look, but ended up going blue/black to make it more dark/street.
Well i guess i haven't really helped, but the answer is there isn't one it's what YOU want, and tbh whatever you pick, like all things in life some will love it others wont.
Look at ColK's (COLINK@JDMPASSION) posts on Nutz he has literally posted thousands of pictures of 5's from all over the world.

Think silver is the classiest colour, blue red or yellow the sportiest but if I was goin for another one I think I'd go for black with a red interior. A combination of sporty and classy. As Chive said though each to their own matey!

i was quite liking a nice fresh white with a black hardtop and black windsceen surround similar to the new audi tt, also having the seats leathered and was thinking white leather with black alacantara middle with white door tops and gaitors with roadster emdroided on the seat backs.

Fuschia pink every time. Go in, you gotta have it that colour. I have seen a very nice black one with subtle sparkle in it and it looked top notch. Failing that, red, although I have to agree that they would look lush in cream!

I'm loving white cars at the mo but think it only really works on some cars and personally I dont think the mx5 is one of them, black is timeless cool on anything and if its a nice straight car looks amazing but on anything else it never looks better than a bit ratty for me, silver looks good on 5's but the late 90's boom for silver cars totally wrecked that colour for me, now I think it looks a bit common, my absolute favourite colour for a standard looking 5 has got to be mariner blue, for a modified 5 I'd have to go with red, got a lush picture of a red 5 as my computer back drop even though I dont have a 5 any more I just like it that much. So anyways thats all probably been not much help but colours a personal choice and your the one who has to drive the car, choose wise

That smoky/darkish silver grey, which a few Honda S2000s (boo!hiss!) come in. I think they call it 'moonrock'.
Had I to respray my Mk1, that'd be the one, no contest.

That is nearly the colour mine was painted first time round last year. Pity it did n't match the rest of the car (bonnet, boot etc) Would have looked nice if it all matched though!!
