Wot do you all think of the governments proposel of 50 mph on all rural roads by the end of this month
I think its SH*TE

I dont think we should change. 60 is fine as long as you are a capable non drugged up sober driver. reducing it to 50 would not prevent the accidents or the consequences. BUT i do sympathise with the guy who is pushing for it as his daughter was killed on a rural road BUT the driver was "allegedly" under the influence of drugs and drink, Got 2 kids missen as a lot of us have and therefore i can see where is coming from but a 10 mph reduction would not make any difference in those circumstances.
They are even talking of local councils imposing their own speed limits which will cause utter chaos with different rules all over the country but would be good for them cos they could nick more of us.
Thats my bit anyway.

i agree, must feel sorry for the chaps loss, but the accident could have happened on any road, how about clamping down on tractors who stray on to main roads causing havoc, no road tax, red diesel , dropping horse sh*te or worse wherever they go,
cyclists on rural roads who ignore the riding 2 astride thingy, ive past groups of upto 12 at a time on cycles 5 a breast, making it impossible to navigate round without getting tangled in road rage, we've all done it,
horses riding on roads, WHY? its not the 1600's, things have moved on a bit, theres fields and stuff now for recreation, people moan about caravans, give me one any day, sooner than being behind tractors, horses, cycles,
as stu says just more government sh*te to hit the motorist with,
and another thing, what ever happenened to people not being able to park on the corner of junctions, noticed this more in the mazda with being low down, trying to pull out of a road when some chuff's parked right at the corner, cant see a damned thing,
dont see any duty full parents complaining then, because its more than likely their car, & im a parent, imagine a child crossing at the junction and your blind to see, would it take a serious accident or worse to introduce or infact police the already existing law about parking on junctions,
im afraid its a bit of the cap fits so i'll where it, we can all cry foul after the event, like i say really do feel sorry for the chap, but how fast did he drive on rural roads before the accident when he wouldn't have given it a second thought.
ive got to go now, gettin wound up, and that don't happen to often just to add, im no expert on the law, so i may have unknowingly miss quoted the highway code, if anyone knows different please correct me

Yeah, seeing Chris lose it is enough to make anyone want to leave the country!

wankers everyone who thinks that speed is the only factor in traffic accidents...
a reduction in speed on rural roads will serve to make people bored behind the wheel, imagine a clear open straight road with no hazards and your restricted to 50mph, people die on roads fact, the physics of shifting 2 tonnes of steel and plastic into a 60kg is going to hurt irrespective of speed... its just not feasible to keep restricting speeds... just because these toss pots in london have never gone above 40mph due to congestion doesnt mean that we all should stick to their rules... i remember that the transport secretary doesnt even fucking drive!!! and refuses to on a matter of principle... what does that say about the government in power, as if they havent ruined this country enough - to think that these politician's parents payed around £9000 a term to educate them as kids... then why are they all fucking retards with the common sense of wood pigeon???
im with chris on this one... im getting annoyed by all this nanny state crap...
