Mk3 vs MiniWas watchin 5th gear last night and quite shocked to see a mini go round the track faster than the new 5. Whats all that about??? With only 15bhp disadvantage would have thought the handling would have more than made up for it. Or is it the mini is that good or the Mk3 is too civilised??

heres a bit on MX5s http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/road_tests/index.htm?id=194§ion=main
Not a shock, the Mini will win every time by dragging itself round the corners, me and my daughter have had track days at Prestwold in Mini Cooper Works and p*****d on alll sorts Aston Martins, Ferrari and Porches ..on the straights they caught up but on corners nowt could touch the Minis..even in the wet.
Have a go, only £120...Last year we tried the Aston Martin DB12 but still preferred the Mini for the fun factor.

its all about torque, cooper s has bags more oooomph to pull out the corners without despite the minor difference in HP

Every show i go to i always love looking at the mini's, not so much the new ones but love the old ones. Not that i would turn down a new S.

i still reckon my mates old 1.3 cooper was a better drive than a 5...
ive seen a racing mini outrun Jag E-types and Camaros around Mallory Park in the wet - it just didnt slow down like the RWD motors do when the moisture does...

once had the chance to buy a cooper for 50 squids when I was about 20 but couldnt afford the insurance. Hindsight eh!!!!! Also had the chance of a BMW 3.0 csl for 500 ish and an Alfa Romeo Montreal for the same!! Which makes me wonder what cars have you had the chance to buy over the years that would have been worth a mint now????
