MX5 MotorsSo Steve of 5city at Conisbrough Donny has finally got his own place based in Carcroft on a nice new ind est.
At the moment he is still working at 5city part time but his opening days are due soon. He is having an opening day for RX7's as he has 2 of them and is a prominent member of the mazda rotary club, and also an opening day for MX5's. Lise is doing the photography on both of them.
For the MX5 opening day i hope to see all of our members there, this is beneficial to us all as Steve has promised us a lot of free if not cheaper work. He is wanting to get back to how it used to be at 5city where people can turn up and just chat/kick tyres and drink tea/coffee. We have been invited to go down and do our own work if he's busy. He's a proper petrolhead and a laid back kinda guy. So when the opening day is set i will let you all know asap.
Meanwhile heres a taster of his new place. me n Andy went to have a quick look earlier today.
It will be a heated garage, with seperate waiting room with coffee machine, large screen tv with games console etc.
Looking forward to the opening day.

If we all get down to the open day, it will be a cracking opportunity to show off the club and spread the SY5 word to a few new people.

Yeah he wants as many cars and people as possible so he can get to meet people so they can feel more comfortable when ringing him or just turning up.

He's not set one yet as the sparkies are still in and he has to kit out his waiting room and get the rest of his equipment in. He is open for bits of business though, mainly mondays n tuesdays wkends and nights. Don't forget to mention that i told ya or he might just say he's not open yet.

No not yet mate, i've actually just got off the phone with Steve and he's right excited about it all, well lets face it which of us wouldn't !! Stealthcruiser has been to his place, there's a post up on Nutz.
Steve is still trying to get it all finished off inc the rather flash waiting room !! ya listenin Damo 
I will keep everyone posted on updates. I am going there Sunday with Lise n Amy Lol we are going to the Range in Donny so i said i'd pop in n see him.

MX% MotorsSteve has just rang me to let me know about his new business venture at Carcroft. He explained to me that MX5 City has all but closed down as they have made nearly all their staff redundant.
They must have given Steve their client list so he was in the process of ringing everyone on it. I explained to him about Clive putting the details on this website and that we were going to attent an open day when that eventually arrived. He then went on to tell me that he was now officially open?. You slippin up Clive?. Anyway Clive or Damo if we are going to give the lad a big SYFs good luck opening when is it going to be. Hopefully at the weekend, that will give more of us a chance to attend.

Cheers for that mate. Yes we did know but we have been away for the weekend on our Christmas do so i've not had the chance to post up. You've pretty much covered most stuff except that he will be having his opening days between christmas and new year. Lise will be doing the photography for both so as soon as Steve is certain he's going to let me know.

MX5Motors is having it's open day on Sat 27th !!
SO lets make it a good un for Steve. I know he is looking forward to it. and i know he will look after us in the long term not only with practical help but also we will be able to ring him up and ask questions, and get advice without feeling silly or awkward. He's used to having numpties asking him daft questions
More details ongoing, so make a date on ya calendar MX5 Motors Sat 27th nice to get out of the house and escape, do a bit of tyre kicking catch up with old and new friends alike.

At the mo it seems to be just a turn up say hello day. I'm going to have a word with Steve see if we can beef it up a bit. I don't know if he's getting any press, i doubt it but there are organisations he can talk to to help with small businesses so it might be worthwhile him contacting them.
Will speak to him see what he thinks about a few ideas. I think he'll need a big tea/coffee urn cos i doubt that cafe next door will be open. OR if enough people do confirm it might be worth him asking them to open. All speculation at the mo though.

As for the OC i'm not gonna make that call. But i am interested in what other people think about making an official invitation. This isn't about SY5's it's about giving Steve a good start for his business.
But, i am arranging it for Steve so i think we should take the banner. It might be wise to devise someway of standing it up in front of the cars, or above the cars.
Hope t see ya there COL, as long as you don't start telling me all about all the wonderful new bits ya got for ya car

regarding the OC, i dont think it would do any harm , maybe i could post a thread on the p&p forum, just telling them whats happened regarding mx5city & steve setting up, it wouldn't do his new bussiness any harm, i know the p&p members are not as hands on with their cars as we are, maybe because they don't have damo n chive
but jokin apart if he's after the work why not, let me know what ya think

As i said Steve is happy for anyone to come. The only stipulation i would put on it is that they are coming as 5 enthusiasts not as OC representatives. It's about MX5 motors, though we will be taking our banner cos i doubt we will get the members cars together n cleaned all at once, so it's a good opportunity for the club, and ya never know . . . . . .
Don't know who wants to do it, but obviously Chris n Damo know them to talk to so Chris should do it

I have bought my sister's AX cos I can't afford to run my parents five any more. I am going to save up and get a Eunos when I have got a decent job!!! You did miss a bit Clive, there's some thread about this somewhere on here!

Right just for clarification, Steve is expecting folks around 11am, so do those of us from around here wanna meet up somewhere nearby around 10ish. Or there is a big layby when you come off the A1 if people are going that way.
