Get a decent oil (semi-synthetic) and you can get the oil filter from mx5 parts for a genuine mazda one you also get a new sump plug washer and they have three sets of spark plugs ranging from £7 to £11.80
hope this helps have to do mine this week aswel

avoid bosch super 4 plugs, they're pap
currently got some denso iridium's in clives, well recommended and shpould last a good 60k miles
oil, get the best you can realistically afford, I've user millers since day 1 and cant think of any reason to swap away, especially as it still comes in a tub big enough to do a full change!

if your car is standard then just any plugs will do, i wouldnt bother splashing on fancy plugs as it wont make a bit of difference to your motor - i always used NGKs about £2 a plug and never had an issue...

dont know in sheffield, always get mine from happy motorist in rotherham, its not the cheapest but its not exactly expensive. 5w40 would be my vote aswell to keep those noisy cam followers down!
