Update on Car TheftOk just to ease the confusion, i posted this post in the MX5motors thread so Lise moved it for me.
Ok update
I have just got off the phone with the Police, and this is what happened.
It seems a family nearby were having a family feud, certain members of the family decided to screwdriver their way into my car rip off the cowl and hotwire it. Drive it over to another member of their family's house and. . get this REVERSE it into another member of their family's car repeatedly. (Oh Yeah my bonnet has survived  ) Only thing is when they tried to drive away it didn't move, the engine was running but no go !!
Could be a few things causing it but lets hope it's the cheapest hey

That's rubbish about the family...could they not take their own car? losers!
Sorry I did not make it today, the librarian cooked me and the parents another Christmas dinner....sorry, it won over coming out with you guys!
Good news is, I am looking for a new five. Gonna get one and keep in the garage until I can afford to run it. So Chris, start looking for one for me bud! Have not really had a thunk how much, maybe about 1k or a bit more, depending on what is about.
Clive, ssshhhhh, don't tell anyone, but there is a car here!!!!! for bits!!! ROFL! Matt, if you read this I am only joking.
Hope you get it fixed bud, I am sure that MX5 Motors can help you.

dunno mate, probably yeah cos i've sorry me n Andy, and ya self n Chris have put too much into this bloody heap o metal 
Guess i'll have to wait n see what the damage is to make a sensible decision.

Hmmm, i would love to, but, i'm TOTALLY skint. After buying the Justy and Lise's plate and Christmas i'm 2 grand o/d and still have Jan to survive till my next wage. So, i can't afford to buy replacement parts never mind another donor car. Another issue is Linda from MX5Nutz has offered me her 5 for nowt. Unfortunately it's a non runner and it's a 1.8. On the plus side i have you lot, Steve at 5motors and a Justy so there's no rush to get it done straight away. So for now it's just a case of getting it back and over to Steve's so he can have a look at it.

On a serious note mate - if you dont take lindas 5 can i have it??? Would even give some dollar for it if she wants... Would be brilliant for my kit car project...

Soz mate Steve has already bagged it for the exact same reason you want it, he wants to do a track car for 5users to use on track days, if i don't want it, not that i wont
Best wait n see tbh, i can't see me letting a 5 go for nowt, not that it will be for nowt cos i said i'd give Linda something for it, and Steve will be having my 5 for a while when i get it back.

So, went to the holding compound wi Lise n Andy earlier n this is what we saw.
It's not been fingerprinted yet so we weren't allowed to touch it, just look around it and take pictures. Apparently it had been reversed into a Vaux Vectra a few times. The Vectra was there but we didn't see it.
We could see underneath the car a bit and the diff is bust, but was too dark to see if there was owt else knackered.
The drivers door/lock is foooked, ignition cowl has been smashed to pieces and ignition barrel wrecked.
So all in all not as bad as i thought !! At least they didn't front end it, And my rear spoiler survived !

they should sterilise the fucking pricks that do this - wilful destruction of property and for what? they'll probably get their 68th asbo this year...

thats a shocker m8,
is the reason the car wouldn't drive because the diff's shagged?
so if the chassis's all square ya lookin at ,
a diff
a boot lid
rear bumper
rear panel
door lock
ignition cowl
ignition barrel
hmm! its all repairable, suppose its down to the insurance comp now,
it goes withgout sayin clive just shout if ya need use of workshop ect, jason in the unit next door also does paint n body work,
im sure we can sort sommat between us if the insurance comp don't want to know

a donor is sorted so shouldn't need many parts
we'll be looking at:
Diff
Panel
Bootlid
bumper
full lock set
cowl and speedo dome
