Who to fit suspension in Sheffield?Hi folks - I'm after helpful suggestions for anyone in the Sheffield area who may be able to fit me some new shock absorbers to a 95 Mk1iS.
I currently have two that are leaking (one front and one back) and hence have got a full set of Koni's on order. The problem is that the guy I normally use (Mick at Miata Auto Services) is on holiday now until the second week in August, my MOT and Tax run out at the end of July and the car may not pass the MOT as it is as present. I could probably do it myself but I have taken a stack of time off work recently due to kids being ill etc. so don’t really want to take any more time off. Also it would probably take me twice as long to do as someone experienced and I'd need to buy some spring compressors etc.
The other obvious option, Nick Clulee is out due to my previous experiences with them.
So any suggestions please.

Welcome!
not sure of any other garages who "specialise" in 5's, but any reputable one would be capable of doing the work.
OR
Try it yourself - I replaced mine (with very little knowledge at the time) and it took probably 6 hours on a Saturday afternoon - I've since been able to whip them off and replace them in a couple of hours... it really is an easy job and you'll have the satisfaction of doing the work yourself

Hi and thanks for the welcome - I registered ages ago but have never got round to posting...
So by way of introduction I'm based in Sheffield and have a lighty modified Laguna Blue Mk1 1.8iS that I've had for 10 years!
Anyhoo - I would lOVE to do the work myself (given I'm an engineer) and have in the past done most things to the car (including fitting hoods etc.) but with a 4 year old and a 1 year old my wife wouldn't take kindly to me taking the time out to do it. I also have a slight problem in that I'm busy this weekend (kiddies parties) and am away for the long weekend next weekend. Add that to the leave from work, MOT and Tax issue and you can see why I need A N Other to do it for me.
A couple of hours sounds pretty good though time-wise - I'm impressed!

He aint a MX5 specialist, but has done a few jobs on my car(head gasket, exahust, break pads/discs, cam sensor).

Spring Compressors are £12 from screw fix and they are not piddly little things - rather meaty forged steel...

Cheers for the info and offers of help. The Koni's are the three tier Sport adjustables so should be easy to assemble (big circlip rather than a threaded shock) but will need the top mount opening out to 12mm.
Maybe I'll give Gangsta's mate a ring... either that or SORN it at the end of July until it is fixed.
